Panther Day 2012

What is the purpose of Panther Day?
Panther Day is structured similar to a Bike-a-Thon or a Read-a-Thon in that each student is asked to raise funds through friends, family and neighbors (or, “sponsors”).  Instead of reading or biking, however, students earn their sponsor’s donations through service work done throughout our community.  The service work is usually done off-campus, in Newton, Rockdale or Henry County, but also wherever there is a need.  Not only do students benefit from a day of volunteer work, but also hundreds of fellow community members see our wonderful students in action, making a difference. Setting the foundation for service at such a young and impressionable age allows us to establish a tradition that our staff and students look forward to each year.  As we continue to educate our students, we are excited to see them develop the many facets of their personalities to become the leaders of tomorrow.
Why do we need to use Panther Day as a fundraiser instead of just a service project?
Tuition at Peachtree Academy covers 93% of annual expenses. Therefore, additional money must be raised each year to cover costs, which usually includes items directly related to classrooms. The PTO and Panther Day are Peachtree Academy’s only avenues for fundraising.  We would love to reach our school wide goal annually and ask that each student raise at least $100.
