Pre-School

Open Registration for the 2010 - 2011 school year started October 1. Space is limited for Kindergarten, the next educational step for Pre-K students.
Children must be 5 by September 1!

Peachtree Academy offers two great options for eligible Pre-K students, who are 4 on or before 9/1:

Private Pre-K - This Kindergarten readiness program offers challenging academics in a class of eleven to fourteen students. The class is led by a very experienced and dedicated early childhood professional with at least 5 or more years experience. The teacher creates rich and complex experiences for students, working with them in partnership, eliciting and then facilitating learning based on interest. We use an interdisciplinary approach to present studies in science, geography, language arts, mathematics, music, Spanish and art. These studies are not limited to the classroom. They include outside resources such as guest speakers and field trips to the Zoo, Botanical Gardens, the post office, or a hospital, and enable the students to observe the world around them and its workings.

Children are introduced to a wide variety of academics including phonics and reading, math, art, music, bible study, and Spanish. A different science or social studies theme will also be taught each week. Learning Centers of interest are established that include home-living, blocks and transportation, science, art, and manipulatives in a beautiful and bright classroom environment. The school day is from 8:30-2:00 and includes academics as well as one hour of quiet time. Half day is available from 9:00 until 12:00 on a limited basis. Registration fees are the same as for Private School and uniforms are required except on Fridays.

Georgia Pre-K - The curriculum for this program is similar to the private pre-k with the following exceptions: 1) Beginning phonics and reading are not directly taught. Instead, phonemic awareness and letter recognition skills are integrated into the curriculum. 2) Bible Study is not a part of the curriculum. 3) Students have the option of wearing uniforms, but it is not required. The class is taught by a degreed teacher and assistant who lead 20 students in daily exercises of discovery and exploration. The school day is from 8:15 until 2:35 and attendance and tardiness are closely monitored.

The Georgia Lottery helps fund the class and therefore implements attendance and tardiness standards. The cost is only $85 per month for meals and is due the first of each month. If extended care is needed, the cost is a total of $90 per week and includes meals in addition to before and aftercare. Last year, we had over 160 people on the waiting list. Please check out your options early so that your child can have the very best experience in Pre-K. It is a crucial time for development and very important for a child to be in a nurturing environment. Due to state regulations, students in Georgia Pre-K are not permitted to bring their lunch and must eat lunch provided by Peachtree Academy with menu items from each of the 4 food groups.
